This course will discuss the KDIGO 2024 guideline updates on the use of RAAS inhibitors in chronic kidney disease, emphasizing their established role in blood pressure control, reduction of proteinuria, and overall renoprotection in both diabetic and non-diabetic populations, particularly in patients with moderate to severe albuminuria. It will review key evidence from landmark clinical trials supporting RAASi therapy, and address updated recommendations on continuing ACE inhibitors or ARBs even in advanced CKD stages, with appropriate monitoring of renal function. The course will also explore practical strategies to manage hyperkalemia—including the use of diuretics, potassium binders, and dietary modifications—to enable safe and sustained therapy. Overall, it aims to provide clinicians with an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to optimizing kidney and cardiovascular outcomes through individualized treatment.
